Alberdi lived to see a museum of his work set up in a palace in Azcoitia, his home town in the Basque country.
Alberdi was a Fellow of the Royal Society of British
Sculptors and his work has been exhibited on numerous occasions at the Royal
Academy. Major pieces in Britain have included the 4 Bulls (fiberglass;
12m) in Birmingham's Bullring, the Fountain (copper & nickel; 6 tonnes;
12m) at Barclay's Bank Head Office in London, and Alma Mater (Travertine
marble; 9 tonnes; 3.2m) in the quadrangle of Exeter College at Oxford University.
