Welcome to the work of Jo Alberdi

This site features a gallery of Alberdi's work, biographical information, and information about his work in Britain, in Spain and round the world.

Alberdi lived to see a museum of his work set up in a palace in Azcoitia, his home town in the Basque country.

Alberdi was a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and his work has been exhibited on numerous occasions at the Royal Academy. Major pieces in Britain have included the 4 Bulls (fiberglass; 12m) in Birmingham's Bullring, the Fountain (copper & nickel; 6 tonnes; 12m) at Barclay's Bank Head Office in London, and Alma Mater (Travertine marble; 9 tonnes; 3.2m) in the quadrangle of Exeter College at Oxford University. Click here to see some of Alberdi's major works in Britain and Spain.

The bronze featured on this page, entitled Family, is from the family's private collection. Two others in the series are in the collections of the King of Spain and Pope John Paul II.
